Dr Gareth Weston

Dr Gareth Weston completed medicine with honours from Melbourne University in 1996.
He transferred to Monash University for training in obstetrics & gynaecology. He completed a PhD in reproductive medicine and molecular biology in 2003, spending time performing studies at Cambridge University UK, and the Peter MacCallum Cancer Institute in Melbourne.
He completed a Masters in Public Health majoring in epidemiology and biostatistics in 2002. Dr Weston has published more than 40 book chapters and journal articles in the field of infertility and reproductive medicine, and is the author of a textbook on exam preparation for gynaecology trainees.
Currently he holds the prestigious Carl Wood Senior Lectureship in Gynaecology at Monash University and is the Clinical Director of the Sunshine Monash IVF unit. Dr Weston works with the Gippsland Monash IVF satellite clinic at Sale as well as consults at Clayton, Richmond, Sunshine and Gippsland.

Dr Weston has a wide range of clinical and research interests including conservative infertility treatments, IVF, egg freezing for medical and social reasons, donor sperm infertility treatment for lesbian and single women, endometriosis, PCOS, and fibroids.

He holds an NHMRC grant examining the role of stem cells in the pathogenesis of endometriosis. Dr Weston holds public appointments at Monash Medical Centre
(Contraception and Family Planning, Microsurgical Tubal Surgery Unit, and Reproductive Medicine Unit) and Sandringham & District Memorial Hospital.

He performs Private Obstetrics at Masada and Cabrini Private Hospitals, and operates on gynaecology cases at Masada, Epworth Hospital in Richmond, Monash Surgical Private Hospital (Clayton) and Western Day Surgery (Sunshine).
