Professor Robert McLachlanMonash IVF Consultant Andrologist
After graduating from Monash University in 1977 and completing advanced training in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology in 1984, Professor Rob McLachlan then undertook his PhD studies in the area of reproductive physiology at Prince Henry's Institute of Medical Research and Monash University in Melbourne from 1984 -1987.
He worked as a visiting scientist at the University of Washington, in Seattle, USA, where he continued his work in the hormonal regulation of reproductive function. After returning to Australia in 1990, Rob has since attracted continuous funding as a Research Fellow of the NH&MRC.
He is a co-principal investigator of a Program Grant at Prince Henry's Institute of Medical Research within which he conducts basic and clinical research into male contraception and infertility, and the role of androgens.
Rob McLachlan has been the consultant andrologist to the Monash IVF program since 1991. He is the Immediate Past President of the Fertility Society of Australia and is Director of Andrology Australia, a Federal government initiative, based at Monash, that is committed to research and community and professional education in male reproductive health.
